5 Ways to Include Your Pet in Your Wedding

We all love our furkiddos, but sometimes we find a human to fall in love with and decide to get married. Wedding days are a big deal and it makes it so much more magical to have your furry best friend there with you. We have some tips and tricks for including your pet in your wedding.

Make Them a Part of Your Wedding Party

The best way to include your pet in your wedding is to give them a role. This creates a specific time that they get to shine and interact with you and your guests. Here are some roles to have them play:

Dog/cat of honor

Have your furry friend walk down the aisle in front of you and stand (or lay down) by your side during the ceremony.

Ring bearer

You can tie a ribbon around their neck with the rings threaded on it. When your pet reaches the end of the aisle simply untie it for the rings!

Furry flower girl or flower girl accompaniment

You can decorate a leash with flowers, ribbons, or lace to make it match the theme. Some treats at the bottom of the flower girl’s basket may help her keep your furkiddo’s attention.

Greeter

If your pet is well-behaved and friendly, have them sit/stand by the doors with a human to say hello to your guests. You can even have your guests give your pet a kiss for good luck and best wishes!

Pro Tip: It helps to choose a friend or family member that is not at the wedding party to be your official dog handler. That way, you know that someone always has an eye on your pet and isn’t going to get into any trouble. NHV Lesstress (for dogs) and NHV Matricalm (for cats) will naturally help keep your furkiddo calm and reduce anxiety. We recommend starting to give the supplements a couple of weeks before the big day so that their body has time to adjust.

Bring Them For the Photos

Unfortunately, not every wedding venue is pet-friendly. To have your pet be a part of your special day without being at the venue, have them brought to join you for the photos. You can designate a friend or family member to pick up your furkiddo and bring them to meet you outdoors or at a pet-friendly location for some photos as the whole family. Cute props and accessories can make the photos even more special. You can make or decorate their collar with ribbons, flowers, and lace to create a look that goes with your outfits and the theme of the wedding. You can even dress them up in their very own suit, dress, or bow ties!

Pro Tip: Use NHV Coco Furcare on your furry kid to make them smell good and their coat shiny!

Dance With Them

A classic wedding tradition is dancing. Whether it is the happy couple’s first dance, the father-daughter dance, or the mother-son dance, it is always a moment that warms people’s hearts. So what about our pets? How about a meowma-cat dance, or a pawpaw-dog dance? Choose a cute song that speaks to the relationship you have with your little furry buddy or a song that reminds you of a special moment the two of you have shared. We are sure it will be a crowd-pleaser! Make sure to practice ahead of time to learn your choreography.

Pro Tip: NHV Turmeric is a great anti-inflammatory and has properties that are helpful for healthy joints, muscle discomfort, and arthritis. Start giving it to your pet a couple of weeks ahead of time to help them dance and party with you all night long!

Use Their Photos for Stationary and Decor

Even if your pet does accompany you for the ceremony, having them at the reception is hard because of the food, dancing, speeches, etc. To have your furkiddo still part of the festivities you can add photos of them here in there so you can still feel their presence. You can do a photoshoot with your pet and the table numbers as a cute way of labeling the tables at the reception. You can even use polaroids of your pet with the guests’ names written on them for place cards.

Pro Tip: NHV Petomega 3 is a blend of fish oils that promotes a healthy coat and nails. Start adding it to your pet’s meals a couple of weeks in advance for their coat to become naturally smoother and shinier!

Have Them Be One of Your Videographers

What about clips of video that are from your pet’s point of view?

We’re sure you’ve probably heard of some weddings that have disposable cameras on the reception tables so that there are photos from many different points of view. What about clips of video that are from your pet’s point of view? You can attach a GoPro camera to your pet to get an unusual, unforgettable, and entertaining point of view to add to your wedding video.

Pro Tip: Your furry videographer might end up also helping to clean up crumbs and things that fall on the floor at the wedding. NHV Plantaeris is formulated to help soothe the digestive tract and helps to relieve diarrhea.
