With the upcoming holidays, warm drinks, and beautiful colors, it’s easy to see why so many people love the fall! Our pups can sense the change in seasons too and can also enjoy the new sights, sounds, and smells that fall offers. Make the most of the season and create some memories with these fun fall activities for dogs.
1. Go for a Fall Photoshoot
Find some colorful areas and snap a few pics of your pup amongst the leaves to show off on your social media or just as precious keepsakes. Get creative with it: use fall-themed dog clothes or bandanas or visit a dog-friendly pumpkin patch for the ultimate backdrop. Photoshoots are a ton of fun, plus the exercise helps to maintain your pup’s overall health.

2. Plan an Iconic Halloween Costume
Some fun can be had by planning a costume! However, you will want to ensure that your pet’s costume does not restrict their movement, impede their breathing, or cover their eyesight. These types of costumes cause stress and anxiety in your pet, so keep it basic for their comfort and safety.
Alternatively, opt for costumes that make sense without an elaborate get-up but instead allow your dog to stay a dog. For example, you could be a police officer and your pup could be the police dog!
3. Get Cozy
Some pups are unbothered by the cold, while others shiver at the slightest breeze. Case in point: you can find huskies jumping into the snow, and chihuahuas running back inside at the sight of a few snowflakes! While dogs’ fur adjusts to the new temperatures around them and they grow their winter coat, you may need to pay extra attention to your pet’s warmth.
Help your pup stay warm and cozy with sweaters, heated dog beds, and plenty of indoor time when the weather dips. Take it as an opportunity to cuddle up and get cozy.

4. Make Fall Themed Dog Treats
Did you know that dogs can safely eat many fall-time favorites? This includes pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and turkey. Just be sure to give them these treats in moderation, and they should also be unsalted, unseasoned, and unsweetened – just plain!
You can also make a fall-themed pumpkin-turmeric latte which is safe and healthy for pups. Simply heat two tablespoons of unsweetened pumpkin puree and 1/2 cup of unsweetened organic oat or almond milk, and cool until lukewarm. Add a dose of NHV Turmeric, and serve. Pumpkin puree offers a source of fiber, and turmeric may offer them health benefits for their liver, joints, and overall vitality.
5. Go for a Hike
One of the best times to get away from the city and into nature is fall. The sights, sounds, and smells of nature will delight your pup. Before heading out, you can use NHV Heal Care as a protective seal against dry weather that can crack paw pads. Heal Care may also help protect against any rocks concealed by the leaves
One word of warning while out on the trails: be careful with the mushrooms you find on the trails. While your dog can eat many types of mushrooms safely and may even get health benefits from them, some poisonous mushrooms also grow during the fall, so keep your pup away just to be safe.
What Fun Fall Activities for Dogs Will You Try?

Cold Weather Cat and Dog Joint Supplements and Pawcare
When the weather changes, it isn't just us that notices! Our pets feel it too! During colder fall and winter months, your furkiddo may be especially vulnerable to joint inflammation, arthritic flare-ups, bruises, cuts and paw pad injuries. As their pet pawrent, you may notice them acting a little differently, for example, if your dog or cat's joints are sore, they may have difficulty going to the bathroom normally. And in many places that deal with ice and snow in colder months, the salt on the roads may further aggravate your pet. Salt can really dry out and crack the skin on their paw pads, or worse, the salt is licked and ingested, causing salt poisoning. Signs of salt poisoning are drooling, loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. More severe cases of salt poisoning may lead to seizures, comas, and even death. We highly recommend washing your pet's paws with warm soapy water after wintery romps to prevent salt from irritating the skin. Once the paws are clean and dry, NHV Heal Care is a beneficial dog paw balm and cat paw balm for adding moisture back into the skin and creating a protective barrier against the elements. To provide internal support from the elements, Old Timer and Yucca round out the Winter Health Kit to help soothe inflammation in the muscles and joints, help revitalize energy levels and add immune support so that our furry friends are protected inside and out!
How NHV Remedies Protects Your Pets Against the Elements
You may notice small changes in your dog or cat's behavior when they aren't feeling their best. Arthritis in cats and dogs can become more noticeable in the winter, as colder temperatures may increase joint discomfort—just like in humans.
And then the added issue of road salt in colder months may cause further stress and discomfort. As their paw parent, you will want to reduce swelling and inflammation, improve circulation and support their immune system so that they can bounce back and get outside!
