What Can You Do Today To Help Your Pet Tomorrow: 5 Essential Tips

When our furbabies are young and healthy, it’s easy not to want to think about the future. But too many times, when our pet health deteriorates, and our vet bills skyrocket, we realize all the little things we could have done in hindsight that may have helped prevent it.

Here are 5 easy tips you can do now, to help your furbaby for tomorrow.

Pet Health Exams

Everyday while grooming or petting your dog or cat, do a quick overall exam. Here’s what you should be looking for:

Pet Dental Care

Begin a dental routine as soon as possible for both cats and dogs. Brushing your pet’s teeth every day can help prevent gum disease, abscesses, and even help prevent digestive disorders. You may also want to try NHV Mouth Drops to help with gingivitis and bacterial infections.

Care for Paw Pads

Don’t walk your pet on hot cement or in extremely cold weather without booties.

This is probably one of the most overlooked areas of pet care and can cause your pet a great deal of discomfort. Don’t walk your pet on hot cement or in extremely cold weather without booties. During winter, be aware of salt or other roadway chemicals that may be on the ground. It’s an excellent idea to begin a daily routine of cleaning your pet’s paw pads and gently soothing them with NHV Heal Care Ointment.

Do Your Research

Do you know if your particular breed of dog or cat is prone to specific illnesses or diseases? Check out our blog for dog care, cat care, or see our dog and cat breeds and conditions for a list of common ailments per breed type.

Understand Your Pet’s Life Stage

By understanding where your pet is at their life stage, you can begin to look out for common conditions and illnesses and address them before they spiral out of control. Here’s a quick rundown on life stages and care:

Life StageSupplement Care Tips
Kittens/ PuppiesDeworm 2-3 times annually. Begin feeding a high-quality diet. Introduce supplements for overall nutrition like NHV Multi Essentials and NHV Turmeric.
Young AdultEvery once in a while, start introducing different high-quality foods as treats. Contrary to popular practice, there is no reason your pet should be fed one brand and flavor of food their entire lives. You can also try introducing some superfoods like blueberries, kale, or sweet potatoes.
AdultBegin introducing supplements that will help with joint care and aging, like NHV Yucca and PetOmega-3. Also, be on the lookout for any symptoms of common conditions that may affect your pet in their next stage of life, like hyperthyroidism, Cushing’s, or kidney disease, and begin using supplements as preventative care.
SeniorGet your pet checked for common senior conditions like diabetes, pancreatitis, Cushing’s, hyperthyroidism, or cancer. NHV has natural supplements for these and other common illnesses. Check with your vet if these are appropriate. Use NHV Old Timer to help with joints and help increase mobility and cognitive function.
Old Age (Palliative care)At this point, it’s important to watch your pet daily for any decrease in quality of life. Contact our pet experts for your pet’s specific condition, and we can make specific recommendations and provide you with personalized recipes to help with their strength and appetite. Keep them warm, comfortable, and surrounded with love.

*Hi, We have a 8 year old yellow Lab name Daisy. Our Daisy was having major problems last year with Non- cancer hematoma’s on her top gums. So I got in touch with NHV Natural Pet and they recommended ES Clear. So I tried it but didn’t think it would work. Well I have been using it for about 7 months. It really did work and Daisy gums look really healthy. I like the fact that it is holistic. My regular Vet told me a year ago that most likely Daisy had bone cancer in her top gums . I am really thankful for NHV Natural Pet people.
