We are excited to take you behind the scenes and tell you a little about the love and care that goes into each one of our bottles. You may be familiar with how our supplements help, but before reaching all of our furry friends around the world, there’s a lot that goes into the process. We aim for the best, from sourcing ingredients to researching our formulas to using our unique extraction process for quality, bioavailability, and purity! Using glass bottles means passing along all of the health benefits without leeching chemicals (like from plastic).

Craftsmanship and Quality

Glass has been around for thousands of years. We are surrounded by it on a daily basis. From the glass windows in our homes to our bottles of wine, glass has long been valued for its ability to withstand fluctuating temperatures, wind, rain, snow, and intense sunlight. In the early days of apothecaries many centuries ago, plants were ground down in a mortar and pestle and sealed in glass to protect them from the elements. And even today, many thousands of years later, glass is still used for bottling beer, medicine, essential oils, perfumes, botanical extracts, and more. So to continue with a time-tested tradition and to offer all our furry friends the purest product we can, NHV pet supplements are sealed in glass.

We Put Your Pet’s Health First

At NHV, we care first and foremost about pets! So to ensure that your pet is getting the best quality we can offer, we use medical-grade amber glass. It protects the contents against light damage and is chemically inert.

You have probably heard of BPA-free plastic, which is a guarantee that the plastic is free of a harmful chemical called bisphenol-A. BPA is only one of the many harmful chemicals in plastic (that we know of) and oftentimes, the ingredients in plastic are not listed. When a plastic bottle has light pass through it, there is the possibility that it may leech chemicals into the contents. When we think about the possibility of chemicals getting into the bellies of furkiddos, we feel that it’s worth spending the extra money on amber glass to ensure a cleaner and safer product.

With amber glass, you don’t have to worry about leeching because glass does not absorb moisture or odors and does not allow light to pass through. Because of this, it is frequently used in the medical industry, beauty industry, and food and beverage industry. Amber glass may be pricier and more breakable compared to plastic, but we believe that the benefits of using glass bottles far outweigh the negatives! Another bonus of glass is that it is eco-friendly. It is recyclable and can be melted down to create other things, whereas plastic is highly toxic and takes a very long time to break down.

No Preservatives or Additives

Every NHV bottle is full of herbs, and herbs are incredible! They’re jam-packed with vitamins and minerals and often contain healing properties such as antibacterial or antioxidant action. They can even act specifically on an organ and stimulate tissue regeneration (think Milk Thistle and the liver). But, to receive these fantastic benefits, sprinkling some herbs into tea simply doesn’t cut it. When developing formulations, it’s essential to understand how to properly extract the bioactive compounds and how to properly package them for later use. Our care products are developed by a holistic vet and a master herbalist with advanced knowledge of the medicinal properties of herbs and extensive experience in extracting and maintaining the integrity of their bioactive properties.

To make sure that your pet is getting the goodness in every bottle, we use medical-grade amber glass because it can withstand the specific temperature required to heat seal our products. Heat sealing extends the shelf life without preservatives or additives and protects from light damage. Plastic always requires adding one or more preservatives, would melt if overheated (cannot be heat sealed), and would most likely leech chemicals into the contents.
