Blueberry Coconut Dog Popsicles

Easy Recipes For Pets 2 min read
A dog eating a homemade dog popsicle.

When the sun is blazing, there’s nothing more refreshing than an icy cool treat – and this goes for our dogs too! But did you know that specially-made dog popsicles are more than just tasty treats? They can also help our fur-kiddo hydrate, cool off, and enjoy nutritional benefits if it is made from healthy ingredients. You can make an easy pupsicle from these pet-safe plant foods: blueberry and coconut.

Blueberries are rich in vitamin C and anthocyanins (a type pigment that acts as an antioxidant), which can support overall health and cognitive function. It also provides a bit of fiber, too, thanks to its pectin content. Even though blueberries are safe for dogs, they shouldn’t be fed too much at once due to their sugar content.

Our team loved making this recipe for Caze, the office pup.

Coconut milk is also safe for dogs. The fats will make your pup love the taste. However, because of that fat content, it should only be given to them in small quantities.

The Recipe

Ready to treat your pup to a cold refreshing treat? Here’s everything you’ll need:

  • Organic, washed blueberries
  • Organic, unsweetened coconut milk (with no additional fat, sugar, oil, or preservatives)
  • A blender
  • A silicone mold with treat-sized portions
  • A dog (or cat) who wants to beat the summer heat!

The Method

Once you’ve gathered the ingredients, here’s how to make the pupsicles:

  1. Wash and dry your blueberries, and pop them in the blender
  2. Add in your coconut milk, enough to get a watery consistency
  3. Blend away until it resembles a smoothie
  4. Pour into a silicone mold (or an icecube tray in a pinch)
  5. Pop in the freezer for a couple of hours, or until frozen solid
  6. Serve: your pup will be delighted by this icy treat!

And that’s it! These tasty treats will last up to a month or so in the freezer, but your pup will definitely want gobble them down before then! Just be feed them it in moderation.

Dog Popsicles Video Recipe

Our team loved making this recipe Caze, the office pup. He left us a glowing review, too. Just watch the video to see just how much he loved them!

As a senior pup, cognition and everyday movement can be hard to maintain – even for a superstar like Caze. Diet can play a role in helping them stay their fittest. Antioxidants obtained through diet can help our bodies stave off age-related damage. You can also add PetOmega 3 to your pet’s daily regimen to help them age with style and grace. It’s made from sardines, anchovies and North Atlantic cod liver oil, which is then further distilled to concentrate the healthy omega 3 fats.
