Natural help for a diabetic cat in conjunction with insulin – Eliot’s tale

Natural help for a diabetic cat in conjunction with insulin – Eliot’s tale

Cats are prone to kidney health issues and diabetes, especially as they get older. This little guy was named after T.S. Eliot, the poet who inspired the musical ‘Cats’ when he wrote about feline psychology and sociology. Eliot had a health scare earlier this year that required emergency medical attention, but has since nursed back to health with the love and support of his family, his meow-my, and his concerned cat brother Furrell.

In September, he got diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and UTI. He is already diabetic and has CKD. He is 15 ½ and was diagnosed with early-stage kidney disease 2 years ago. He’s been on pro-zinc insulin. He gets once-week sub q fluids.

When we heard from Eliot’s mom, we sprung into action right away and recommended a regimen for him to start as soon as he was back from the vet. Within days of starting his NHV doses, Eliot started to perk up.

Latest update in October:

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that Eliot has been on Mellit and Tripsy for a little over 2 weeks (started after he came home from a 3-day hospital stay because of acute pancreatitis). I did a glucose curve on him yesterday, and his range over 12 hours was the best it’s been in a very long time!! I am sure the supplements are helping my little old man! I will add the milk thistle to the mix soon. His ultrasound in the hospital showed a couple of small lesions on his liver, and he will need to be rechecked in a few weeks. Thank you for your help getting him started on these fabulous products!

Update in November

I am amazed every single day how much better he is since we started him on these supplements. Just started the milk thistle 3 days ago. He actually loves that one!

Update in December

I wish I could capture the difference in him in a video! He’s doing things he hasn’t done in a year or more!!

With the holiday season approaching us, we are absolutely overjoyed that Eliot gets to spend time with his beloved family. ‘Cos that’s what it’s all about… being cozy and spending time with your loved ones, wrapped up in the blankies. It was a stressful and lonely few days with his presence gone while he was in the hospital.

Furrell and Eliot have the best time laying around together and supporting each other through the highs and lows. His vets and loving family have been keeping an eye on him. They know that watching for the signs and symptoms that something is wrong – which include regular checkups and keeping him comfortable at home. We are so happy to hear this little one has had such improvements with kidney support supplements, an experienced support system, and a loving family.

Update – January 2, 2019

Eliot’s continuing to pawty on his patio. 🙂 We have now added Milk Thistle to his regimen as it helps keep his liver enzymes in a normal range and is excellent holistic support for a diabetic kitty.

Update July 2019:

Eliot continues to do well on his supplements, with no more pancreatitis attacks.  Yay!

Here’s a great update and gorgeous selfie from him:

What is Eliot getting for diabetes and kidney issues?

Tripsy and Milk Thistle help support renal function in cats and dogs. Together they are available in the Kidney Disorders Gold Support Kit.

Milk Thistle is a wonderful addition to Tripsy, as it acts as a detoxifier for the blood and the vital organs, especially the liver and kidneys. It improves the function and regeneration of the liver and kidneys especially when they have been overworked by medication. Together they help ease your fur kid’s symptoms.

Tripsy is our main kidney support supplement. It helps to flush and detoxify the kidneys, reduce inflammation, and prevent infection. It has been used for over 20 years safely in pets and is currently undergoing clinical trials at the University of Georgia as part of their Veterinary Medicine program.

It can help to stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin and also help to control the symptoms seen with diabetes

Mellit can help to regulate the blood sugar in a diabetic kitty. It can help to stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin and also help to control the symptoms seen with diabetes such as increased thirst and urination. It has shown great success in helping to regulate diabetic pets by helping the body to respond better to insulin, and to protect the liver and kidneys.

“When a cat adopts you, there is nothing to be done about it except to put up with it and wait until the wind changes.”
