seasonal support
Who wouldn’t want to have a happy and healthy pet? When you see your ferret jumping and playing the entire day immediately becomes brighter! That is why it is our task to keep our fuzzies healthy. Ferrets are prone to many illnesses and by providing them with a healthy and natural environment we can postpone those illnesses or even prevent them entirely. So, what can we do to keep our fuzzies healthy?
1. Choose the best diet for your ferret
Ferrets are obligate carnivores and their diet should consist of raw meat, bones, and organs, all in one balanced meal. If you aren’t able to provide them all-natural diet, use the best kibble you can find on the market. Make sure that kibble has meat listed as 3 main ingredients (chicken, lamb, beef, liver….) Ferrets can’t process fiber so use kibble with very little or 0% fiber in it.
2. Help them with hairballs
Ferrets are shedding in spring and fall and they love to groom and clean themselves every day.
Ferrets are shedding in spring and fall and they love to groom and clean themselves every day. They are similar to cats in that department. But, cats can throw up the hairball, ferrets can’t. Due to that, you can help them with hairball by giving them Malt Paste, NHV Hairb-Ez, or a little amount of olive oil every few days. When it is shedding season, you can give them every day, just in very small amounts.
3. Summer isn’t their season
Ferrets are prone to heat strokes because they aren’t able to cool themselves. Due to that, you have to cool them off on hot summer days. Keep them in the dark and put them in a cooler room. You can also freeze one water bottle, wrap it up in a towel, and place it in the cage. That way the bottle will slowly melt and the towel will absorb the water and your ferret will stay cool.
4. Grooming is also important
Ferrets are clean animals and they love to stay clean. Make a schedule and every 10 days provide your ferret one spa day. Clip his toenails, clean his ears and reward every step with a treat your ferret loves. Ferrets don’t like when you clip their toenails so apply a little bit of NHV Hairb-Ez (or what your ferret love) on their belly and when they are busy licking it – clip toenails. The same story is with ear cleaning. Apply a little bit of that one paste your ferret loves on the belly, use an ear wax, and start cleaning. If you want to make the job easier, use safe ear cleaning solutions like NHV Echo Gold, Oti-cleans, or some other cleaning solutions made for cats and kittens.
5. Find a good veterinarian
The most important part of keeping your pet healthy is a good veterinarian. Good ferret veterinarians are hard to find so contact your local shelter and ask for a recommendation. Visit the vet with your ferret the first time you get him then make an annual check-up to see how his overall health is. When your ferret is older than 3 years, try to measure his blood glucose often and do an ultrasound to make sure he doesn’t suffer from any serious illnesses, like lymphoma, insulinoma, or adrenal gland disease.

It's a bit of difficult question to answer. There are some factors to take into consideration, like the size of your dog, their coat type, and if their acclimatized to the cold weather. We've known some huskies who've decedent from the north, who would rather lounge by a pool on a sunny day than put a toe (or paw) in the snow.

Hi Jason,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us.
We can tell you’re a furparent who really loves and cares about their furkiddo, we’re so happy to meet you!
Supraglan is our main support for adrenal support. The herbs in this blend can help regulate water and electrolyte levels, promote healthy skin and coat, and can help to control appetite.
For your sweetheart, we’d recommend a dosage of 0.5ml twice a day (so a total of 1ml for the day) and we also recommend giving your girl her supplements along with some food.
Please feel free to reach out to us any time you need us or have any questions, we’ll always be here for you.
Yours in wellness,
Team NHV
