How To Help Cats With FCoV – Kay’s Story

Inspiring Pet Tails 2 min read
When Kay's four adorable kitties were suddenly diagnosed with FCoV, she knew just what to do. We're so happy to have been able to support them when they needed it!

Let’s be real, our pets are basically like our children. Hence, the cute nicknames, “furbabies” and “furkiddos”. We do all that we possibly can to make sure they stay as healthy and as comfortable as possible, but sometimes there are a few hiccups along the road. When furparent, Kay’s kitties were suddenly diagnosed with Feline Coronavirus (FCoV), she dealt with just that.

FCoV and Symptoms

FCoV is a very common and highly contagious virus that affects cats. Though they are both coronaviruses, FCoV is not the same as COVID-19 and is not transmissible to people.

Kitties with feline coronavirus can be asymptomatic but can also cause mild issues like diarrhea. FCoV is also transmissible between cats via fecal-oral transmission.

Symptoms of FCoV can include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Anemia
  • Fever
  • Distended abdomen
  • White-eyes
  • Yellow discoloration of the skin

The first thing you should do if your kitty is exhibiting these symptoms is to speak with your veterinarian. They’ll be able to physically examine your little one and offer you a plan for treatment.

Kay’s Kitties

Kay has four adorable kitties named Princess, Putra, Jewel, and Garfield. Though all four kitties weren’t showing symptoms, they all contracted S4 and S5 FCoV. Like the amazing furmama she is, Kay got to work right away at finding some natural support that could help her feline friends. We’re so, so grateful she found us!

Natural Support

To help keep Kay’s sweethearts as happy and as comfortable as possible, they’ve been taking these supplements:

Felimm can help to strengthen a weakened immune system, encourage detoxification of the lymphatic system, help fight respiratory infections, and stimulate the appetite.

ES-Clear can help to support a healthy immune system, promote detoxification, and encourage an improved quality of life.

Plantaeris can be helpful for kitties dealing with gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea. It can help to provide soothing relief, maintain a healthy bowel function, and can help with discomfort.

A-meow-zing Updates

Kay had her little ones on their regimen for a few months and we were thrilled when she came back to us with some amazing news after getting her kitties tested again!

“I received the latest blood test result for my 4 babies, great news!!! Immunocomb test shown 0 FCoV detected!! I’m ecstatic when I saw their results”

Knowing that all her sweet kitties tested negative for FCoV is so rewarding for our team. We know how scary and stressful it can be when our furkids aren’t feeling well, so we’re thrilled to know that we were able to support Kay and her beautiful furkiddos!

Hi there! I’m wondering if you offer help with adult/senior dogs, I have a 7 year old chihuahua who I rescued, his anxiety is just breaking my heart and I dont know where to turn

      Hi Lanell,

Thank you so, so much for reaching out to us. We want to do everything we can to help you during this process.

First, we want to thank you wholeheartedly for rescuing your little chihuahua. We know that it’s definitely not always easy to take on a new furkiddo but we can tell you’re an amazing furparent and we’re sure your little one appreciates you so much!

It’s totally normal for our furry friends to experience anxiety, especially those sweethearts that are rescues. We have some suggestions that we think could help to keep your pup calm and comfortable!

Lesstress is a unique blend of herbs that can help to reduce anxiety and promote calmness. Lesstress can also help to encourage immune system health while reducing aggression and destructive behavior.

We thought we’d share our blog with you on how to support your furkiddo with anxiety. You can click here for the blog: https://nhvpethealth.com/blog/vet-talks-how-to-help-behavior-and-anxiety-problems-in-pets/

We hope this helps, please let us know if you have any questions at all. Wishing you and your sweetheart all the best!

      Yours in wellness,
      Team NHV
