My dog Teddy who is a rescue from hurricane Katrina, is a mixed breed mutt about 45 pounds and going on 15 now. For years I was told he suffered from separation anxiety, but three months ago a new vet took one look and diagnosed him with Cushing’s. He is too old and frail to put through all the expensive tests and meds they recommend and I am treating him with pain meds. He toddles back and forth and his legs give out often. Sometimes he can’t get up on his own and he trips a lot. Would these supplements improve his quality of life remaining? He is so dear to me. He pants a lot and drinks a lot and sleeps a lot and is always hungry…losing hair like rainfall and is covered with growths. I’ve had a few removed over the years but nobody told me what they were. We’re so sorry Teddy is going through this 🙁 Though from the symptoms it sounds like Teddy may be suffering from Cushing’s disease, a blood test would need to be done to absolutely confirm Cushing’s. The testing for Cushing’s is done with a very simple blood test. If you think that Teddy can handle that, we would highly recommend it. If that is not possible there are ways you can support him. We don’t generally recommend using Supraglan unless a pet has a confirmed case of Cushing’s, but in this case it may be worth a try. My dog Teddy who is a rescue from hurricane Katrina, is a mixed breed mutt about 45 pounds and going on 15 now. For years I was told he suffered from separation anxiety, but three months ago a new vet took one look and diagnosed him with Cushing’s. He is too old and frail to put through all the expensive tests and meds they recommend and I am treating him with pain meds. He toddles back and forth and his legs give out often. Sometimes he can’t get up on his own and he trips a lot. Would these supplements improve his quality of life remaining? He is so dear to me. He pants a lot and drinks a lot and sleeps a lot and is always hungry…losing hair like rainfall and is covered with growths. I’ve had a few removed over the years but nobody told me what they were. The testing for Cushing’s is done with a very simple blood test. If you think that Teddy can handle that, we would highly recommend it. If that is not possible there are ways you can support him.
