For Coughs, Respiratory Disorders, and Bronchial Infections in Cats
Did you know Plantain for dogs and cats can offer soothing support for your little one? It is true! In fact, every part of the herb can be used to help address different health issues your furkid may have!
Before understanding how this natural ingredient can help your furkiddo, let us first learn what this plant is.
Categorized by its broad leaves and slender spikes of tiny flowers, Plantain (Plantago major) is an easily recognizable plant. Originally from Europe and Asia, it has widely spread elsewhere in the world. Plantain is now very common in most countries, from lawns and walkways to tiny cracks on highways.
Natural expectorants like the Plantago major can help thin and loosen mucus in the airways, clear congestion, and promote healthier breathing.
Packed with vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, Plantain is highly nutritious. But this is not the only reason to use this natural ingredient for dogs and cats. Studies have shown that Plantain (especially its leaves) contains compounds that may help with inflammation.
This plant also contains astringent, antibacterial, demulcent, emollient, and expectorant properties. Natural expectorants like the Plantago major can help thin and loosen mucus in the airways, clear congestion, and promote healthier breathing.
These are some other expected benefits of using this herb for pets:
Plantago major is known for its ability to help clear phlegm from your furkid’s airways. This helps improve airflow and address conditions such as bronchitis, coughs, infections, and nasal congestion by helping to remove stubborn mucus. Whether your furkid is dealing with a persistent cough or nasal congestion, vet-formulated blends that include ingredients like Plantain, can help.
For this reason, our holistic vet and master herbalist added Plantain to NHV Resp-Aid blend. The herbal supplement is vet-formulated to help with upper respiratory congestion, help fight infection, help relieve shortness of breath, and promote a healthier respiratory system. Besides Plantain, the formulation also has herbs like coltsfoot, marshmallow, licorice, and more.
We have also included Plantain in our Mouth Drops, which is an herbal oral disinfectant. This topical supplement contains white oak, sage, Echinacea Angustifolia, myrrh, and neem, in addition to Plantain. They work together to help eliminate bad breath and gingivitis, aid in fighting oral bacterial infections, and guard against tooth decay and plaque.
When used correctly, respecting the correct dosage for your little one’s weight, vet-formulated supplements that contain Plantain are very safe. We always recommend talking to your vet before adding anything to your furkiddo’s regimen.
Side effects are very rare. However, you should beware if your little one is allergic to plants. Apply a small amount to their skin to test if they have any allergic reactions. Remember to consult your vet beforehand, and take them for an examination as soon as you notice any kind of allergy symptoms like swollen skin and watery eyes.
At NHV, all our products are carefully formulated by a holistic veterinarian and master herbalist with experience spanning over 50 years. We understand the importance of your little one’s well-being, and that’s why we prioritize using all-natural, quality ingredients in our supplements. If you ever have any questions or concerns about Plantain for dogs and cats, or any other ingredients we use, rest assured that our team of dedicated pet experts is here to help you! Feel free to reach out anytime you need.

Asthma in cats and dogs is a respiratory condition resulting from an allergic reaction. It happens when your furkid inhales an allergen, which causes the airways of their lungs to inflame and narrow. Consequently, it becomes more difficult for our furriends to breathe.
Asthma in cats will affect around 1-5% of our kitty friends. Even though asthma in dogs is more uncommon, our pups can also suffer from asthma attacks. Small and middle-aged dogs are usually at the highest risk for this condition.
Besides difficulty breathing, this recurring inflammation also results in various other symptoms:
If you notice these asthma signs, your little one is likely to have asthma. Please visit a vet immediately for a full body examination and a correct diagnosis. An earlier diagnosis can help your furkid get the right treatment sooner.
On top of the traditional cat and dog asthma medicine, NHV herb-based supplements like the ones in our Asthma Kit For Respiratory Relief can also assist your furkiddo on their road to recovery.
Resp-Aid™ is a vet-formulated extract designed to help furkiddos with respiratory issues. The unique blend of herbs helps support the symptoms of asthma. For example, herbs like Coltsfoot help keep coughs under control. Lobelia and Horehound may also help relieve spasms and reduce mucus accumulation.
In addition, this supplement helps soothe irritating tissues in furkids’ lungs and has powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
Since asthma is usually caused by furkids breathing in allergens, we also added our primary support for allergy, Stimmune, to the kit. This formula of herbal extracts can help balance your little one’s immune system, regulating their body’s reaction to external allergens.
On top of that, Echinacea Purpurea and Myrrh can help relieve irritation and inflammation. The supplement may also help increase the energy of your little one.
NHV supplements are all 100% natural and herb-based, including the ones in this kit. A holistic veterinarian and master herbalist with a combined 50+ years of experience formulating every extract.
If you have any questions regarding asthma in cats and dogs or anything else, feel free to reach out to one of our supportive Pet Experts! We are always here to help!

Possible Reasons Behind Bad Breath in Dogs and Cats?
Ways to Get Rid of Bad Breath in Cats and Dogs
If you want to solve the issue of bad breath, it is vital to look into potential underlying conditions with your veterinarian. Once the vet has uncovered the mystery behind the stench in your pet’s breath, proper medical treatment can be offered to address the condition.
You can also help your little one’s oral hygiene at home by regularly cleaning their teeth. Bacteria can accumulate in furkids’ plaques if you don’t help them do regular cleaning. This could lead to a number of dental problems.
On top of that, a balanced and nutritious diet is also the key to oral health. So you may consider switching up their diet.
