Ms. Oreo’s Big Move – Stress free air travel for the cat

This is one of Erika’s kitties – Named Ms. Oreo, a sweet little 3-year-old Tuxedo. She moved from Sweden to Colombia and used Matricalm a few weeks before the journey and during the journey to make the move easy. We wanted to help make the transition as stress-free as possible. Cats may experience a lot of fear and anxiety from preparing, moving day, air travel, and settling into a new and unfamiliar home. Most are not the biggest fans of change. (But at least there are lots of empty boxes to play with!) All that packing, commotion, and humans moving around can cause stress too, and that stress may impact the immune system, and cause them to exhibit anxious behavior such as soiling, hiding, or aggression. It can especially make air travel impossible.

Here is sweet Oreo taking her dose of Matricalm. Her momma just drops it into her food and she just gobbles it right up.

Ms Oreo Takes Her NHV Matricalm
Next week I will get on an epic adventure ✈️ I will travel from Austria to Colombia 😻 This means that I will have a 18hrs journey (3flights + layovers). I will travel in-cabin with meowmy, but have to stay in the carrier the whole time 😾😿🙀 I hate the carrier and this will be quite a stressful trip. I have never been on such a long journey, so meowmy got me this supplement called Matricalm by @nhvnaturalpet to help me relax this week, during the flights and the first days at my new home 🌿 Crossing paws all will go smoothly. -Ms. Oreo (@msoreodoublecream)

Update once landed in Columbia

Adjusting to the new place is going well. Matricalm is so awesome! Oreo behaved so great during the flights!

Chances are, you may have experienced the stress of a big move once or twice in your life- imagine what that is like for our kitties who may not always be able to fully understand why there are so many noisy humans and objects shuffling around. While you prep for moving, you’ll likely be extra-busy running errands, cleaning things out, and packing up boxes. Throughout your transition to your new home, it’s important to try to keep some consistency in your cat’s day-to-day routine in terms of feeding, play, and attention.

Here are some tips and tricks to help a cat with air travel:

  • Encourage your pet to get comfortable with the carrier and moving boxes prior to the move. This can help minimize the stress of unfamiliar objects in their space.
  • Help your cat feel secure in her new home by providing a litter box, fresh water, and favorite toys. Familiar scents, and giving them an area of refuge or hiding space can help too.
  • Make sure the new space is safe and kitty proof. This means ensuring windows, doors, and anything else that can pose a danger are locked or closed off.
  • Try to communicate a calm and relaxed demeanor. Our pets pick up on our emotions too. Try to breathe and relax. 🙂

Every cat is unique, but in time they will settle into their new digs. You can visit Oreo and her friends on Instagram for more furry cuteness.
