Natural Post-Cancer for Pets: Teddy the Morkie’s Journey with Lymphoma

Inspiring Pet Tails 4 min read

Last year, when pet parent Sharon heard that her sweet Morkie named Teddy had cancer, it was devastating. No pet parent wants to hear a diagnosis of cancer, let alone a tricky one like canine lymphoma.

But while Sharon wondered if she would need to set up Teddy an ofrenda (a dedicated spot for a memorial) this Día de Los Muertos, Teddy is not just still with her; he’s by her side and in remission!

Now, Teddy is in a new stage of recovery focused on ensuring his long-term wellness after chemotherapy, while also supporting age-related concerns like canine arthritis.

Lymphoma in Dogs and Teddy’s Journey

Let’s start from the very beginning, with Teddy’s diagnosis. It was a very difficult day for Sharon and her furmily to hear the news.

Lymphoma is a common type of cancer that starts in lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) and the tissues of the lymphatic system. It accounts for up to 15 to 25% of all cancer diagnoses in dogs. While it is a tough cancer to treat, remission is possible, so Sharon worked closely with her veterinarian.

At first, the two tried the CHOP protocol – one of the most common chemotherapies for dogs with cancer. However, it didn’t work for Teddy.

Not willing to give up, Sharon tried another vet-prescribed medicine and… it worked! Her amazing commitment and love for her sweet Morkie pup paid off, and Teddy officially entered remission. Knowing you get to spend more time with your pup is one of the best feelings in the world.

Even though they were celebrating, Teddy’s wellness post-cancer was still top of mind for Sharon. She began to look for ways to keep him supported during this new phase in life.

Teddy’s NHV Supplement Routine for Post-Cancer Care for Pets

After completing chemotherapy for lymphoma, supporting long-term wellness and immune strength were Sharon’s next goals.

That’s why Sharon gives Teddy NHV Natures Immuno. Natures Immuno is a blend of medicinal mushrooms, including reishi and turkey tail. These mushrooms are known for being rich in beta-glucans, which may help support normal immune function.

Cancer itself and intensive treatments like chemotherapy or radiation can temporarily weaken a pet’s immune system and deplete their physical reserves. Taking thoughtful steps to support a pet’s immune function during remission helps maintain their quality of life as they bounce back.

Sharon is happy knowing she’s giving Teddy immune support and antioxidants, but her fur kiddo, now a senior, also has arthritis.

So, NHV Natures Immuno wasn’t the only supplement the two used. They also started on NHV Yucca, a supplement that offers support for inflammation and the joints.

NHV Yucca for Arthritis in Pets

As an older pup, Teddy also has some age-related concerns, including arthritis.

That’s where NHV Yucca comes in

Arthritis in dogs causes joint stiffness and swelling that can make daily movement painful. But because movement is so important for a pup and their overall wellness post-cancer, Sharon wanted to support her fur kid’s joints. That’s where NHV Yucca comes in.

The yucca root contains natural saponins with gentle anti-inflammatory properties, which may help ease joint discomfort without harsh side effects. Supporting their movement helps senior pets move more comfortably and enjoy their favorite activities again! For Teddy, this means more sniffs on walks, more play sessions with toys, and more time enjoying family activities.

Sharon shares that it’s truly these little things that she has noticed since starting their NHV routine:

It’s been over a month since we started, and honestly, there’s no dramatic before-and-after here just small, real things I’ve noticed. He’s taken to both easily, they’ve folded right into his existing meal routine without any fuss, and he still gets excited every time I bring out his bowl. He has also been asking to go on longer walks to get in more sniffs.

We know peace of mind is so important for pet parents dealing with cancer, and our natural, vet-approved supplements are here to help. Because your fur baby deserves the best!

“If I could give my dog anything, it would be more days like this one”

Like any pet parent, Sharon just wants her fur baby to be happy so that he can do the things he loves and have more incredible days. That’s why she’s grateful to see these gentle improvements. She shares:

If you’re navigating something similar with your own senior dog, I hope this helps even a little. Here’s to more good days!
