Why is veterinary research such an important part of NHV?

Clinical Trials & Research 3 min read

As a company, NHV invests heavily in veterinary research every year. We are currently running five different clinical trials in partnership with many universities in Canada, the US, Brazil, and New Zealand. And have published various valuable results in the past.

As part of the NHV pet expert team, I have personally committed 17 years between my veterinary college, my masters, Ph.D., and post-doctoral training, to help understand animal health and welfare needs, including studying the scientific benefits of herbal remedies in pets. What this all means to pet parents like yourself is that at NHV we only want the best for pets of all kinds.

The master herbalist and vet team formulate every NHV formula considering the science behind each herb and the physiology of each animal species. All this is to ensure all herbal blends are safe and will support little ones in need.

My Experience with Veterinary Research

I chose to be a veterinarian and scientist to follow my passion for helping pets and their parents. Working for a company with the same values as mine is extremely important to me. Otherwise, the promise I made to help animals and humans alike through holistic medicine and science would be pointless.

Holistic vets take a much more natural approach than traditional ones. We recommend various ‘alternative’ treatments and lifestyle changes before referring to pharmaceuticals. But we don’t believe that pet parents have to choose one or the other!

At NHV we have an integrative wellness philosophy. Meaning that we believe in the use of natural supplements and a balanced diet alongside traditional medicine when needed. In fact, when we go back to the roots of traditional medicine, we see that it all originates from herbalism.

After all, herbal medicine, also known as herbalism, is nothing more than the study of the same medicinal plants which are the basis of many drugs and treatments. So, veterinary research on herbal products can help the vet community discover the treatment, or even the cure, for many different diseases.

I am proud to say that investing in these veterinary research initiatives helps pets and humans. These results are in a field called “One Health” – an approach that recognizes that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment. Not to mention that the results of NHV studies can also be applied to support humans fighting different diseases.

Promising NHV Clinical Trial & Research Results

We expect to extend our veterinary research department more and more to continue helping pets and their human parents. A clinical trial can take years to be finished, but we have had some promising results that we wanted to share:

  • NHV Natures Immuno is our mushroom blend with several benefits. We are finishing a clinical trial in the School of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, in Canada, that shows that this formula can help modulate the immune response. These results are significant for pets suffering from cancer, auto-immune diseases, inflammation, etc.
  • Studies have also provided evidence that NHV Resp-Aid can help with respiratory diseases such as asthma. Asthma is one of the diseases that we do not have a cure for and having something natural that can help alleviate the symptoms in pets is fantastic!
  • Another incredible find came from The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Their research showed that NHV Tripsy may help prevent and dissolve oxalate crystals and stones. There is currently nothing else available that has this same potential.
  • Lastly, NHV Turmeric has been shown to help pets suffering from melanoma. Also, the study being conducted in New Zealand, has revealed that our vet-formulated Turmeric extract is safe to use along with some protocols for chemotherapy

Now you know that behind this screen, there’s a passionate team of pet experts like myself that are eager to help with your little one’s health. We will continue to invest and take part in veterinary research so you can count on us for professional guidance and quality natural pet supplements.
